Karen Hedley has a desire for ensuring everyone understands communication and can be included in the community. She founded The Easy Read Toolbox for this reason, after 3 decades living and working with people with disabilities, and over 10 years experience writing Easy Read and Easy English. The Easy Read Toolbox has written documents and run training for government, community sector and tertiary educators, as well as developing a members-only community with access to courses on Easy Read and accessibility, and an image bank. As a disabled woman, she was re-elected as director on the board of Women with Disabilities ACT, and previously worked with the Disability Royal Commission on accessibility and inclusion, including Easy Read communication.
