Hi there!
My name is Katie Mathews and I am a high school junior that started an organization called Nerd Nite Next Gen. Nerd Nite operates in over 100 cities all over the world where individuals present and geek out about something they are passionate about. For Nerd Nite Next Gen, all ages are welcome, but speakers have to be high school/early college.
At the premier Nerd Nite Next Gen event in June of this year, high school students presented the following topics: How a Tiny Cyanobacteria You've Probably Never Heard of Powers the Word, The Doctor's Hand in Historical Demise, and How Social Judgement Comes from Internal Criticism. My intention when I started this event was to empower the next generation (pun intended) to come together in a safe space to share their passions in a fun and educational way.
