My name is Kay (Kai) Karstaedt. I was born in West Berlin in 1969 and now work as a stonemason in
Taranaki, Aotearoa/New Zealand.
As a child, I once asked my mother, "How do we know that one day we won't wake up and realise that what
we call a lifetime was simply a dream, much like the dreams we have each night?"
Looking back, I see that this question marked the beginning of a lifelong inquiry: Who am I, really?
At the age of 25, I left Germany and spent the next nine years travelling before eventually settling in
beautiful Aotearoa/New Zealand.
What I would like to share with the community is an invitation to explore Present Moment Awareness.
Through simple, practical exercises, we can begin to notice that the movements of the mind and the
experiences of the body are constantly changing. Sometimes they bring joy, and sometimes they bring
challenges that seem overwhelming.
My intention is to create a simple, welcoming space where everyone is accepted exactly as they are. I simply
offer an opportunity to explore Present Moment Awareness together and to discover, in our own
experience, what has always been here.
As we return to the present moment more often, we may begin to recognise a quiet presence beneath all
experience—a presence whose nature is peace, joy and love. This is what I refer to as the "I AM."
