Kedmah is a music ensemble and educational initiative bringing the power and beauty of Sephardic and Mizrahi Jewish expression to life through ancient sacred poetry and song. Led by Rabbi Yosef Goldman and Music Director Yoni Avi Battat , Kedmah weaves together history, heritage, and spirituality, drawing on Iraqi, Syrian, and Yemenite ancestry in conversation with diverse musical influences.
Through interactive performances and workshops , Kedmah invites audiences into the rich musical traditions of Middle Eastern Jews, illuminating the deep cultural connections between Jewish and Arab worlds. Whether on stage at venues like the Kennedy Center and the Weitzman Museum or in synagogues, schools, and community spaces, Kedmah fosters an immersive experience of sacred song and communal storytelling.
Their debut album, Simu Lev , released in Spring 2024, marks the beginning of an ongoing effort to expand and enrich Jewish identity through music and heritage.
