Kimberly Shoulars is the founder and Executive Director of Wordplay at Work, an organization dedicated to improving health and wellness through writing. Her love for writing began in childhood and continued throughout her academic journey. She earned her bachelor's in English & Comparative Literature and master's in English & African American Literature, studying the art of writing and honing her skills in creative expression. Her experience with the transformative power of writing inspired her to dedicate her career to helping others discover its therapeutic benefits and promote wellness and healing in individuals and communities.

Kimberly's work and studies confirmed that writing -- whether creative, academic, personal, or professional-- is an effective tool for community building and transformation. This confirmation led her to launch Wordplay at Work in January 2023. As the Executive Director, Kimberly designs and facilitates group writing workshops focused on various aspects of health and wellness, including mental health, chronic illness, grief and loss, recovery, and self-care. She also serves as a writing coach for clients seeking a creative path for self-exploration, working through transitions, or needing assistance with personal writing projects.

As part of her commitment to helping others improve their health, Kimberly is passionate about developing innovative community programs that foster a sense of connection and support among participants. She works closely with organizations to design holistic programs that are imaginative, engaging, and impactful. Her approach to program and curriculum development is grounded in the belief that creative expression is a powerful and essential tool for individuals to navigate life's challenges and achieve personal growth.

In addition to community care, Kimberly believes self-care is essential to creating a more compassionate and connected world. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with her family, friends, and nature.
