KL is a gender queer bootblack, oral historian and was the first Australian to run for the International Ms Bootblack contest in 2018. They have interned at the Leather Archives and Museum in Chicago to learn Leather conservation, and work with the Australian Queer Archives conserving the leather collection. They also started the Leather Women's History Project to share the history of Leather women (and those assumed female at birth) in Australia.
They are currently working towards gender affirming surgery to align their body!
