Our research has been a trusted authority in the field of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health, Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB), and suicide prevention. The roots of the Boorn Centre are two Aboriginal-led, transformative projects: the Transforming Indigenous Mental Health and Wellbeing Project and the Centre of Best Practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention.
Now, as the Kwop Boorn Djenara Centre (a place of good tree roots), we will continue our transformative work in establishing and promoting cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, promoting Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) in communities and beyond, and decolonising the discipline and study of psychology. We are a consortium, led by the University of Western Australia, with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) and Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Australia
