The Kyabram P-12 College Resource Library is a multi-disciplinary space for staff and students to utilise. It supports the learning journey of all members of the school community by providing access to borrowing during scheduled library sessions each week.
Students from Prep to Year 6 have weekly scheduled library borrowing sessions, students in Year 7 to Year 9 have fortnightly scheduled library borrowing sessions. Classes attend their library session with their teacher, where they can borrow books, each visit. Students in Years 10-12 can borrow books the same, and to do this, they can visit the library in their own time (lunchtime, after school, before school).
The library operates using the Accessit Library Management system. During library sessions, students may borrow resources and or engage in the school library catalogue when searching for resources. The library offers a range of fiction and non-fiction resources available in both print and eBook formats, while also supporting the curriculum with ICT and equipment.
Areas of interest within the library include; the reading lounge (includes junior fiction sections), library tables and presentation area, quiet reading spaces (including the local history display and gentle reads), open area (includes non-fiction and senior fiction sections), and the print and copy area. The library also offers lunchtime activities to enhance learning and build positive relationships within the college. Our library encourages wider reading to improve literacy through book promotion programs, latest release purchases, scheduled literary events and engaging displays.
