The Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network (LCLN) is a grassroots environmental organisation dedicated to preserving, restoring and celebrating the natural landscapes, ecosystems and waterways of the Latrobe and surrounding regions in Victoria, Australia.
Formed in 1999, LCLN spans a catchment area across Baw Baw, Latrobe City and Wellington Shires. We currently support and coordinate 19 Landcare groups operating across the Network, from Warragul in the west to Rosedale in the east, and from the Great Dividing Range in the north to the Strzelecki Ranges in the south.
At LCLN, we believe real environmental change happens when community, landholders, schools, and local government work together. Our mission is to:
Support local Landcare groups to plan, deliver and scale environmental projects
Facilitate community education, citizen science and youth engagement programs
Coordinate landscape-scale initiatives for habitat regeneration, biodiversity, waterways protection, weed and pest management
Advocate for the long-term resilience and health of local ecosystems
Our projects cover a wide spectrum, from restoring remnants of critically endangered Gippsland Red Gum grassy woodlands, to protecting threatened species (such as the Greater Glider), and facilitating school-based “Trees in Schools” planting and restoration programs.
Joining LCLN means more than planting trees. It means building local capacity, sharing knowledge and experience, connecting with like-minded people, and changing the landscape for future generations. We provide administrative, technical and training support to our groups so they can achieve their goals more effectively.
We welcome people of all backgrounds — landholders, school groups, students, volunteers — to get involved. Whether you're keen to plant, monitor, learn or lead, LCLN provides pathways to meaningful and lasting impact.
