Lesley Alexander is a botanical and natural history artist based in Riverhead, Auckland. Originally from the UK, she holds a First-Class BA Hons in Scientific Illustration and worked with several London-based publishers before relocating to New Zealand with her husband and three children. She later earned a Distinction in the Diploma in Botanical Art from the Society of Botanical Artists in the UK.
Primarily working in watercolour, Lesley frequently exhibits her botanical, nature, and landscape artworks in both group and solo exhibitions. She is also an art tutor, teaching botanical drawing and painting in Auckland and leading the monthly art group at the Auckland Botanic Gardens.
Since 2019, Lesley has served as the president of the Botanical Art Society of New Zealand. She was also involved in the steering committee for New Zealand's participation in the 'Botanical Art Worldwide' exhibition in 2018 and is currently assisting with the 2025 exhibition.
