The Libby Ruge Smile Fund Inc. (LRSF), a registered Australian charity, was founded in honour of our daughter Libby’s ambition to study dentistry so she could change people’s lives by transforming their smiles.
Tragically Libby’s life was cut short by an out of control car while she was walking along a footpath in Wollongong with her boyfriend of three years and two friends in November 2020 and before she began University to study dentistry.
Whilst studying for her HSC and working part-time as a dental assistant Libby witnessed the amazing transformation in people’s self-esteem and confidence when they had completed their orthodontic treatment and had a smile to be proud of.
The psychological benefits of being able to smile confidently is well documented. Smiling boosts your mood, lowers stress levels, makes you feel more attractive, projects confidence, boosts creative activity and can influence our social lives, careers and relationships.
Dental restoration is financially out of the reach for many families and young adults and this is where LRSF can help.
LRSF will be providing young adults access to dental rehabilitation that they or their families may not be able to afford and honouring our daughter Libby’s ambition in dentistry in such a memorable way.
