Surface Paradise, a venture led by Lisa Carroll, joins forces with Georgia Chapman, a distinguished textile designer and RMIT lecturer.
Chapman, with a focus on sustainability, adeptly harmonises aged and new fabrics, crafting pieces that not only showcase timeless simplicity but also preserve cherished memories.
After completing a BA degree in Textile Design at RMIT, Georgia co –founded the fashion and textile label Vixen quickly developing a signature of original textile designs, hand printed in Melbourne. For over 20 years Vixen was sold through retail outlets across Australia, Asia, and in London. Georgia has exhibited her work widely, and her works are held in the collections of the NGV and Powerhouse Museum.
Lisa Carroll, an award-winning designer, serves as a bridge between the past and present, adeptly reframing traditional practices with contemporary tools. Her diverse background, ranging from collaborations, freelance design and lecturing further enriches the collaborative synergy.
Together, Carroll and Chapman's shared expertise and passion for textiles create an ideal collaboration. Their combined skills promise a fusion of tradition and innovation, weaving a narrative that transcends time, resonating with both heritage and modernity. In this collaboration, Surface Paradise becomes a canvas where the threads of experience, sustainability, and design expertise are intricately woven into a fabric of creativity, promising unique and inspired outcomes.
