Lowitja O’Donoghue Foundation is a for-purpose initiative established on 1 August 2022, with Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue entrusting the Foundation to carry forward her legacy of courageous Aboriginal leadership and her vision of empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to create meaningful change.

We aspire to become Australia’s leading provider of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander designed and delivered leadership programs, along with other transformational education opportunities, to empower the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders to lead with, and for their communities.
Lowitja O’Donoghue Foundation currently operates as a program of Lowitja Institute, Australia’s only national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled health research institute, named in honour of its patron, the late Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue.
