The Lyon Housemuseum is a contemporary public art museum located at 217-219 Cotham Road in Kew, Victoria, Australia.
The museum is open to the public Thursdays to Sundays 12.00pm to 4.00pm, public holidays excepted.
The museum presents exhibitions of works from the Lyon Collection which includes paintings, sculpture, video works and photography by over 60 of Australia’s most celebrated contemporary artists.
The museum also offers pre-booked guided tours of the original Housemuseum, the former family home and private museum of the museum’s founders Corbett Lyon and Yueji Lyon. These are offered on designated days each year with tours conducted by members of the Lyon family. In 2010 Larry’s List named the original Housemuseum ‘one of the world’s 10 most exciting buildings of private museums’.
The museum also presents a regular series of talks and events which are open to the public.
Access to the museum is by car or by Yarra Tram No.109 from central Melbourne. The Housemuseum is located at Stop 39 Florence Avenue.
