The Macquarie Ancient History Association (MAHA) is a student group at Macquarie University, founded in 1974. MAHA's student branch serves a social purpose, bringing together students studying ancient history and archaeology as well as students who simply enjoy history.
Our aim is to promote the study of ancient history at Macquarie University, to foster a spirit of community and social connection between ancient history students, the MAHA Executive body, staff, and the broader community, and to offer members a variety of social and ancient history related activities, events, and opportunities for further learning and involvement in the discipline of ancient history.
The Revue, sometimes affectionately referred to as “MAHA Rev”, is our yearly comedy show, staged at the Lighthouse Theatre, Macquarie University. The revue has been running since the 1970s, and pokes fun at all things history, with some accuracy thrown in. We usually have an overarching theme or storyline, dispersed with improvisation, skits, song parodies, Think of it as a budget (and much more adult) version of Horrible Histories!
We encourage all to audition, and we commit ourselves to creating a safe, diverse, and fun environment.
