Mark Baulderstone is the Managing Director of RIEDEL Australia & New Zealand.
A respected figure in the wine and hospitality industries, Mark has played a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of the world’s most renowned wine glass company across the Oceania region. He is a dedicated advocate for premium glassware and its role in enhancing the wine experience.
Over his three-decade career with RIEDEL, he has personally educated more than 20,000 wine enthusiasts across the Asia-Pacific region, demonstrating how the right glass can elevate the enjoyment of wine.
Mark’s passion for the industry was ignited at 18, when he began working at Sydney’s historic Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel: “I had a very hands-on introduction to the wine industry, which provided the perfect foundation for my career. I was fortunate to be trained by some of Australia’s finest winemakers, which deepened my knowledge and passion for wine.”
Mark’s journey with RIEDEL began as a Sales Executive in the 1990s. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming one of RIEDEL’s top international executives and the youngest non-family Managing Director in the company’s history at age 33.
In 2005, he played a key role in bringing RIEDEL’s sales and distribution in-house, establishing RSN Australia (RIEDEL, SPIEGELAU, NACHTMANN). Since then, the company has grown from a two-person operation to a team of 12, with national distribution through network partners.
Mark remains committed to innovation and expansion, ensuring the continued growth of the nearly 270-year-old RIEDEL brand in the region. “Wine is one of life’s great pleasures, and Australians are becoming more sophisticated and curious about what they drink,” he says. “As interest in wine grows, so does the demand for quality glassware. Over the years, we’ve seen a strong increase in appreciation for well-crafted glasses, and we’re excited to continue leading that conversation.”
