At Mark's Country Place (MCP), our mission is to foster wellness and create a safe, nurturing environment for individuals with special needs, their carers, their families, and the broader community. Named after the founders' son, Mark, who has an intellectual disability, MCP embodies their vision of an inclusive recreational space they once sought but couldn't find.
The future MCP garden will be a haven for people of all ages and abilities to rest, learn, and engage with nature. Focused on individuals with disabilities, it will feature sensory and vegetable gardens, play areas, and quiet spaces for reflection. Planned buildings will host activities that teach gardening, environmental stewardship, music therapy, and healthy living.
Community involvement is integral to MCP's development. Volunteers will help shape the gardens and infrastructure, fostering connections and shared purpose. By promoting mental, physical, and social wellness, MCP aims to build stronger, more inclusive communities.
Still in its early stages, MCP addresses a critical gap in facilities for people with special needs, offering a unique space for interaction with nature, one another and the wider community.
