Mates4Life was founded on a simple belief: anyone can help prevent suicide, if they know what to look for and how to respond. So that's exactly what we teach.
Over five years, we've been helping build a Hawke's Bay community that's better equipped to look after each other, because we all need a hand sometimes. And sadly, mental distress and suicidal thinking touch too many lives in our community.
But the fact you're here? That says a lot about you. You're someone who wants to do something about it, and that makes you pretty awesome in our book.
Our workshops are run in small groups with friendly, experienced facilitators - lots of interaction, plenty of time to practise, and a genuinely supportive space to work through the skills. Yes, the topic can get heavy, but we believe you don't learn to swim by reading about it. Better to practise in a safe space, so when a mate needs you in the real world, you're ready to jump in.
