Maya Grkow is an emerging New Zealand and Australian artist who predominantly works in installation, sculpture, and drawing. Maya draws upon her memories and experiences from her travels and daily life to explore the human psyche, physical body, natural world, and global ideas. Her work explores the viewer’s experiences and perspective by creating environments for viewers to form their memories and connections with the work.
Recently Maya has been a part of the RMIT Sculpture Club Executive Committee and won the BDS sculpture award at the RMIT Grad Show in 2021, exhibited at Melbourne Fashion Week, First Site Gallery in 2022, was part of Melbourne Design Week with NGV, and RMIT Culture residency program in 2023, and is part of the Maroondah Arts Activator program for 2024.
