Melbourne University Shakespeare Company

MUSC is a Unimelb student theatre company affiliated with Union House Theatre that has in recent years committed to adaptations that, rather than simply put Shakespeare into a modern contemporary era, use Shakespeare as a tool to make new stories. Following on from HAML3T - which presented a queer treatise on the legacy of Shakespeare's HAMLET - , Patroclus & Achilles - which combined Troillus & Cressida with the Illiad to highlight the beautiful queer tragedy - and Patience - which used multiple plays for an experimental comedy - MACBUREAU integrates Shakespeare's text, plot, and characters, into a very Australian play that speaks to specifically Australian issues.
