Welcome yogis! I'm Mia—an ocean loving, sunshine seeking, movement mad, yoga-doing enthusiast who has the pleasure of sharing my knowledge and love of yoga with you here at Neighbourhood yoga.
My love affair with yoga began as a healing balm for both my body and mind, stemming from a competitive sports background that brought its own set of challenges. Injuries and emotional hurdles paved the way for me to discover the profound and nurturing embrace of yoga.
From a very young age, I was immersed in a rich tapestry of yogic traditions (and LOTS of downward dogs) through my mother. Surrounded by the resonance of singing bowls, ancient chants, and an open-hearted approach, I learned that yoga is not just a physical practice but a holistic lifestyle.
With over a decade-long personal yoga practice, I have experienced firsthand the transformative effects of yoga. Specialising in Vinyasa, Hatha, and Ashtanga, I bring a unique blend of strength, flexibility, and mindfulness to my teaching. My classes are designed to challenge and inspire, fostering growth both on and off the mat. I believe that yoga is a powerful tool for cultivating resilience, kindness to the self, and inner peace.
Beyond the yoga mat, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a playful spirit honed through my journey in academia. Graduating with a Sport and Exercise degree in the vibrant city of Newcastle, UK, has not only expanded my understanding of anatomy and physiology, but allowed me to bring a harmonious blend of science and soul into my sessions.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in inclusivity. Having had the privilege of meeting individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, ages, and nationalities, I embrace the opportunity to guide each student on their unique yoga journey. With an open heart and mind, I create a space where everyone feels welcome and supported.
I cannot wait to share this practice with you on the mat! Namaste.
