Miriam is a Conscious Dance/Movement Facilitator, Somatic Therapist & Trauma-Informed Bodyworker who offers classes, courses and one-on-one sessions across Aotearoa & within her local town of Ōtepoti/Dunedin.
She invites you to approach your body as a wellspring of wisdom: an invitation into presence, sensation, and deep listening. It is a reminder that our bodies are not problems to solve, but portholes to attune to.
With training in Mindful, Somatic Approaches to Trauma Therapy (Dr. Paris Williams), a background in Contemporary Dance (Unitec 2002), and a Masters in Dance Studies (Otago, 2014), she shares her extensive experience in Conscious Dance, Somatic Movement, and Improvisation with the community to support people's journeys to wholeness and wellbeing. She has recently begun working with ACC Sensitive Claims clients in support of rebuilding an embodied sense of trust, joy & connection through creativity & nervous system education.
Miriam has experience teaching children's movement, high-school students, and has worked at the University of Otago teaching dance and movement education. She regularly offers workshops at the Conscious Dance Aotearoa Festival (Nelson region), Circulation Festival (Dunedin) and other events around the country.
