Hi I'm Ange Stephenson and I have established Mona Litta Art to assist education sites to use the materials-intensive Visual Arts Learning Area to progress the Cross-Curricular Priority that is Sustainability. What better to support education sites' sustainability journeys (often just by example) than the subject using the most materials!
My early iterations of art practice centred on mosaics and other cement work which included both commissions and product sales. But as a litter-picker since parenthood commenced way back, I've since found a place in the established genre of plastic art in both portraiture and sculpture. In this realm I have participated and been a finalist in exhibitions, been a finalist internationally, and have enjoyed sales and commissions. I grow ever more curious about the all the materials we use in the arts discipline and how we use them, targeting my professional study to each branch of the Visual Arts. Playing more with painting in the last 2 years has seen me learn much about the potential for "better practice" and the gentle, enjoyable, structured, purposeful teaching of it.
As a teacher for nearly a decade, my classroom practice has centred Sustainability - with marine conservation and pollution often in focus. With a love of teaching and being both a Coastal Ambassador and AUSMAP micro-plastics Ambassador, I hope to create curiosity whilst together we become conscious of our processes, continue our Art learning, create wonderful artworks, and have some awesome fun!
