Nautanki Theatre is a leading Independent Theatre Company based in Parramatta. We create contemporary works infused with South Asian content and aesthetics, contributing to an inclusive “national theatre of Australia” that reflects the diverse fabric of diasporic influences. Nautanki caters to all-embracing audiences and creatives across generations, activating grassroots engagement, initiating professional development, and presenting new work. Founded in 2012, Nautanki has spent the past decade shaping Western Sydney's cultural landscape through innovative, bold work that is relatable and entertaining.
In the last 12 years, Nautanki Company has successfully presented 10 live theatre performances and kick-started the annual Parra-Mela (South Asian Cultural Festival) in 2016. Nautanki’s project involved more than 300 actors, performers, crew, and support staff. Our events were attended by more than 10,000 audience members. We reach out to more than 25,000 people based in Western Sydney every year through our various programs.
