The Northcote Organisation of Bizarre Art Prize (The NOOBA Prize) promotes a broader way of thinking about art in order to encourage more people to enter the art world. Bizarre art is indeed art, so long as it touches you and you don’t forget it.
Some very famous art started out incomprehensible or looked down upon institutionally. Even Brett Whitely bought back his earlier work, and burned it.
We want to put a spotlight on this type of art and host a yearly competition for $2,000, where the winner is chosen by the public.
