ABOUT
Since its formation in 2010, Northern Institute has become a regional leader in high-quality social and public policy research. Based on Larrakia land at Charles Darwin University's Casuarina Campus, we work across many locations across northern Australia, including on Arrernte land at the Alice Springs Campus and interstate in Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania. Our researchers conduct fieldwork in remote regions in Kakadu, Barkly, East Arnhem Land, Tiwi and Galiwinku.
Our research aims to understand regional development and provide strong evidence for policy development and capacity building whilst responding to the needs of governments and communities. Our researchers are recognised nationally and internationally for their innovative methodologies and research outcomes. We collaborate through partnerships with local and international context experts to bring together a deep understanding of people, policy and place.
We are always looking for community collaborations with our Institute, which can provide opportunities for partnership through events, collaborative research and program initiatives. Our seminar series focuses on policy through various disciplines and attracts a diverse audience, including academic staff, university students, NT/ local government and NGOs, local businesses, Indigenous and industry representatives, and interested public members.
