Fostering cardiovascular research excellence in NSW
The NSW Cardiovascular Research Network (CVRN) is a cross-institutional, multidisciplinary network, established in 2005 to enhance and support cardiovascular research in NSW through collaboration, innovation and increased research funding. The NSW CVRN spans across the entire research spectrum, from basic biomedical, clinical, population and public health, bringing together world renowned and emerging researchers in the areas of vascular, cardiac and kidney diseases, stroke and diabetes. Our major strategic objectives include: - Foster and strengthen the capacity for cardiovascular disease research in NSW through the facilitation of cross-disciplinary and multi-institutional collaboration. - Identify, promote and support specific opportunities to enhance cardiovascular research in NSW, which align with state, national and international priorities and developments. - Develop and implement strategic events and opportunities to enhance research capability and funding success, particularly for early to mid -career researchers (EMCRs). The NSW CVRN comprises 16 member organisations, over 50 affiliated research institutions and 600 members who actively participate in the network with the purpose of encouraging collaboration and commitment to cardiovascular research. The CVRN is funded by the NSW Government Office for Health and Medical Research and member organisations, and supported and hosted by the Heart Foundation.
