Nunkuwarrin Yunti is a not-for-profit, community controlled and registered training organisation providing health and community services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across South Australia.
The journey of Nunkuwarrin Yunti started over 50 years ago, when the late Gladys Elphick MBE and a group of women founded the Council of Aboriginal Women of SA, one of the first Aboriginal organisations in South Australia. From there, Nunkuwarrin Yunti evolved from a series of names including the Aboriginal Cultural Centre, the Aboriginal Community Centre of South Australia, and the Aboriginal Community Recreation and Health Services Centre of South Australia.
The organisation remains community controlled - governed by an all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Board of Directors, underpinning the delivery of culturally safe services.
Nunkuwarrin Yunti means 'Working Together – Doing Right Together’ and we are focussed on working with the community and staff for the benefit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
