Who are we?
We're a casual group of local Ballarat guys that organise regular, free outdoor hikes for other queer men around Ballarat and Western Victoria.
WHY HIKING?
It's important for men to have opportunities to connect with one another. Research shows that strong community connections improves your physical and mental health.
Hiking, as a physical activity, offers a healthy alternative to social activities that often revolve around alcohol and night time events.
Our smaller group sizes provide a welcoming and non-threatening environment for men to easily chat casually. Many attend our hikes solo, as it's less intimidating than other social events.
Plus, being OUT in nature is a lot of fun!
WHY MEN ONLY?
All queer men - gay, bi, pan, and trans men - are welcome to join us on a hike.
These hikes are exclusively for queer men. While we love and support our queer women and non-binary friends, these hikes were created in response to requests for local gatherings, events and spaces for queer men to meet and bond. We also hope these events can serve as an entry point for more men to attend LGBTIQA+ local events where we are underrepresented.
While primarily a group of local men, we welcome men from out of town to join in - but our hikes tend to be within 45mins of Ballarat.
