The Oyster Harbour Catchment Group Inc. was established in 1992 and is a well-recognised and awarded not-for-profit community organisation based in Mt Barker, WA. The group facilitates, co-ordinates and implements natural resource management through engagement with stakeholders in the Oyster Harbour catchment and surrounding areas.
The catchment covers more than 3000km2 extending from Albany to Tenterden with significant agricultural production and is an internationally recognised biodiversity hotspot with important nature reserves including Porongurup and Stirling Range national parks. Our work focuses on waterways and vegetation protection, promoting agricultural best practices and invasive species control which has contributed to a remarkable water quality improvement and seagrass recovery in Oyster Harbour, Miaritch.
