Founded in 1939, Preservation North Carolina rescues and protects North Carolina's endangered historic properties, like “the animal shelter for old buildings.” Through our nationally recognized and award-winning Endangered Properties Program we’ve protected nearly 900 historic properties, and every one of those buildings help tell the stories of who we collectively are. In addition to saving historic properties, we own and operate the Bellamy Mansion Museum in Wilmington, NC; host a statewide annual conference; offer educational programs, publications and exhibits, including We Built This: Profiles of Black Architects and Builders in North Carolina.
