About Our Concert Series: Since it began in 2010, the mission of the Progressive Voices Concert Series has been to bring nationally and internationally-touring singer-songwriters to Central Iowa who are especially known for their unique voices and musical styles, as well as for bringing both new, original ideas and fresh takes on some traditional themes.
We seek out artists for our listening room concerts whose music can connect with a wide audience by promoting compassion for and celebration of the universal human condition in all its forms and variations. Our artists are especially adept at using the power of music to engage your mind, touch your heart, and uplift your spirit. Perhaps you’ll even be transformed a little bit, too, by the end of the show. They’ll also likely make you laugh a little (or a lot) along the way!
About Our Venue: Our auditorium was intentionally designed with musical and theatrical events in mind, in addition to regular church services. Audiences and musicians alike enjoy the excellent acoustics of our proscenium-style auditorium with a raised stage for great sight lines. This intimate space has 176 comfortable, permanent, theater-style seats. For larger shows, seating can be expanded up to 260 with additional, moveable seats. Adjustable stage lighting and a wall of 2-story windows framing the Des Moines skyline set just the right mood.
