When LGBTIQA+ people need support, it’s time to get organised!
WHY YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED
The Rainbow Community Angels is a community-led, identity-affirming, grassroots movement and safety initiative. Your support will enable us to train and support LGBTIQA+ people and allies to take part in peaceful actions that creates a welcoming atmosphere and supports community safety at inclusive events such as Youth Events, Queer Formals and Rainbow Storytime that have a small chance of being targeted as part of a broader rise in transphobia and homophobia in Australia and Internationally.
WHO WE ARE
We're parents, teachers, librarians, entertainers, youth workers, retirees and professionals from a wide range of industries. We're friends, family members, LGBTIQA+ community members, allies and loved ones. We’re united in the idea that everyone has the right to enjoy LGBTIQA+ affirming and inclusive events and celebrations and we exist to help create the best conditions for that to happen. Anyone who upholds our aims and ways of working will be welcome to join our movement.
HOW WE WILL WORK
We are planning to:
Train and support LGBTIQA people and allies to take part in our actions.
Offer our presence to Councils, libraries, community groups, schools and event organisers organising LGBTIQA+ inclusive events.
Work with their staff to increase event safety through our highly visible, peaceful, supportive community presence.
Provide safe passage for everyone to participate in these events in their community.
