Ren Alessandra is a national award winning and highly commissioned poet, celebrant and educator based in Naarm, Melbourne.
Wordcraft is the name under which she facilitates monthly events, workshops, clubs, and courses for teens and adults. As an English teacher, she endeavours to spread the power of spoken word in secondary schools through accessible and uplifting writing programs to change how poetry is taught across the curriculum and offer it as a gateway to self-expression and activism for the self.
Our 2020 Australian Poetry Slam Champion, she has created art for Rotary International, Federation Square, City of Yarra, City of Melbourne and Sustainability Victoria to name a few. She has performed at the Melbourne Recital Centre, Melbourne Exhibition and recently debuted her spoken word show, 'Wog Girl,' with the State Library of Victoria.
A selection of her poems are to be published in the first braille collection set for the Library's catalogue as a part of the fellowship program, (In)Visible Libraries, set to showcase poetry for the visually impaired.
Her writing explores womanhood, feminism, teaching and love in all its colours. Join her and her collective @wordcraft.wren
