Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN) is a Boulder-based human rights organization serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties since 1979. SPAN works to support survivors and prevent relationship violence through a comprehensive range of free and confidential services, including a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, housing and transitional support, safety planning, education, and community outreach.
SPAN supports adults, children, and families impacted by domestic and dating violence, stalking, and other forms of interpersonal violence. Our work is rooted in safety, empowerment, dignity, and the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live free from violence.
An important initiative that reflects SPAN’s commitment to removing barriers to safety. The "No Pet Left Behind" program recognizes that pets are family and helps ensure survivors do not have to choose between their own safety and the safety of their beloved animals. Through a pet-friendly shelter and community partnerships, SPAN helps survivors and their pets access safety together.
