Founded in 1967, the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF)'s mission is to protect and care for Southwest Florida's coastal ecosystems through our focus on Conservation and Ecosystem Restoration, Water Quality Research, Policy and Advocacy, Sea Turtles and Shorebirds, Native Landscaping, Habitat and Wildlife Management, and Environmental Education.
Thanks to the efforts of many who came before, SCCF is the largest private landowner on Sanibel Island, managing more than 1,800 acres on Sanibel plus over 300 additional acres on surrounding islands and in South Fort Myers and Cape Coral.
Over the last 57 years, SCCF's diverse program areas have grown to include a Marine Laboratory, the Sanibel Sea School, and Coastal Watch.
Community support through membership dues and tax-deductible contributions, in addition to grants and staff-generated revenue, makes our work possible. SCCF is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
