Senator Tony Sheldon is serving as a Labor Senator from New South Wales since 2019.
Tony started his full-time working life as a cleaner. He has been a leader in the Australian Trade Union movement for over 35 years.
Tony has formerly served as the National Secretary of the Transport Workers Union, Vice-President of the ACTU, a Board member of TWU Super, and is a former Senior Vice President of the Australian Labor Party.
Tony is passionate about getting a fair go for low to middle income earners, regulating the new gig economy and improving Australia’s workplace laws. He pledged to work with workers, unions and companies to improve working conditions, safety and security in both the road transport and aviation industries.
Tony is currently the Special Envoy for Disaster Recovery and Chair of the Senate Education and Employment Committee.
