Siliba Ncomanzi is a dentist, a proud supporter of Dorcas ACTS, and the Walk Captain for the Shepparton SpiritWalkers. She has been living in Shepparton for the past three years and has come to love being part of such a strong and caring community. Helping people is one of the things she enjoys most, whether that’s through improving oral health or supporting initiatives that make a difference in people’s lives.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find her at the gym, playing basketball or volleyball, reading a good book, or enjoying a walk around Victoria Park Lake—which makes it especially meaningful to be organising this charity walk there. She has always enjoyed walking and, in 2017, had the opportunity to walk to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, an experience she feels incredibly grateful for.
The work of Dorcas ACTS resonates with her because she wants to support people who have experienced crisis and hardship. This walk will help raise funds to provide emergency financial assistance to people across Australia when they need it most. Crises can take many forms, including personal crises such as domestic violence, hunger, and elder abuse, as well as natural disasters such as bushfires. After seeing the impact of the fires that affected regional Victoria earlier this year, she believes it’s important to support organisations that provide practical help to people in our communities during difficult times. She is grateful for the opportunity to be involved and thankful to everyone who is helping make a difference through their support and participation.
