About Sparks on the Spectrum đâ¨
Sparks on the Spectrum is a queer, neurodivergent-led social connection initiative creating safer, affirming and genuinely enjoyable spaces for LGBTQIA+ neurodivergent adults to meet, connect and build community.
Created and facilitated by Mikarla Teague, Arts Psychotherapist, and Molly Sunderhauf, Social Worker & Psychotherapist, Sparks was born from a simple idea: connection shouldnât require you to mask, perform, decode a room, or pretend to be someone youâre not.
Our events are designed with neurodivergent people in mind from the beginning - with clear expectations, sensory awareness, gentle structure, creative activities and facilitated opportunities for conversation and connection.
While Sparks began with a focus on dating and meeting potential romantic connections, itâs about so much more than finding âthe one.â Itâs about friendship, belonging, community, confidence and creating opportunities to meet people who might just get it.
Thereâs no pressure to flirt, date, disclose, make physical contact or connect with anyone you donât want to. Boundaries are celebrated, âno thank youâ is always enough, pronoun mistakes can be gently corrected, and our facilitators are there if you need a little extra support navigating the room.
Whether you leave with a date, a new friend, a creative connection, or simply the feeling that you belonged somewhere for a few hours - thatâs a spark worth celebrating. â¨
Come exactly as you are. Masking optional. Connection encouraged. Weirdness warmly welcomed. đâžď¸
