Survivors4Justice Reform Virginia (S4JR-VA) is a survivor-led, trauma-informed movement dedicated to transforming public safety and legal systems across the Commonwealth.
Part of a global coalition founded by award-winning author and restorative justice practitioner Marlee Liss, S4JR-VA challenges punitive defaults that often re-traumatize victims. Led by Virginia State Representative Fatimah Muwahhid, our state chapter bridges frontline expertise across law enforcement, corrections, and community organizing to champion non-carceral alternatives centered on survivor autonomy, active accountability, and genuine community repair.
Through legislative advocacy, public education campaigns, and statewide convenings. such as our annual Community Pathways: The Blueprint for Restorative Justice symposium, S4JR-VA equips survivors, returning citizens, justice-impacted families, and decision-makers with trauma-informed resources to dismantle carceral isolation, honor survivor agency, and foster pathways for long-term healing.
