Sustainable Waiuku
Sustainable Waiuku is a community-led initiative bringing local people together to create a more sustainable, connected and environmentally conscious Waiuku.
The group supports practical, community-driven action through initiatives including the Waiuku Crop Swap and Waiuku Predator Trap Library, helping people share resources, connect with one another and make a positive difference locally.
Building on this mahi, Sustainable Waiuku is now bringing the community together to extend predator control around Waiuku Estuary, connecting existing efforts on public land with backyard trapping in neighbouring streets and properties.
With support from a Simplicity Predator Free NZ Trust Community Grant, the project aims to make it easier for households to get involved and work together to protect the native birds and wildlife that depend on the estuary.
Sustainable Waiuku believes that small local actions, when connected through community, can make a big difference.
