Sydney Artificial Heart Initiative (SAHI) is a student-led team of 26 engineers and scientists working toward building USyd’s first total artificial heart and competing in the 2027 International Heart Hackathon. We are committed not only to developing life-saving artificial heart technology, but also to promoting cardiovascular health and disease prevention. While we work to build the Total Artificial Heart of the future, we simultaneously advocate for healthier lifestyles that may one day make such interventions less necessary. Our mission is simple: to do this work until it no longer needs to be done.
