Tallowood Ventures is proud to be the caretakers of the Glenreagh Heritage Railway! We are a not-for-profit, registered charity working to restore the historic 1919 steam train and passenger carriages for short train rides at Glenreagh. We have a working train shed, operated by skilled volunteers, filled with memorabilia from the era of the steam train operations that moved the timber from the Dorrigo plateau down to the Orara valley below.
Our other long term plan is to create a 35km rail trail along the now defunct railway corridor from Glenreagh to Lowanna and Ulong!
Imagine riding in a 148 yr steam train, going for a walk or bicycle ride through cuttings, tunnels and over historic bridges, and admiring and learning about the history of the rail line at our museum. These are the goals of Tallowood Ventures!
