With a LOT of help from my friends, this is the 18th year I have run charity fundraising event GLAM, in support of a small / grassroots Queensland charities, usually a charities that supports vulnerable women and / or children.
Past charity beneficiaries have been The Lady Musgrave Trust, Mummy's Wish, MND & Me Foundation, Olive McMahon Lodge in Toowoomba (run by Queensland Cancer Council), The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, Pindari Women's Shelter in Spring Hill Brisbane, Zephr Education, Global Sisters, Orange Sky Australia, YWCA Encore Program, Second Chance Program, Suited to Success, Youth Advocacy Centre, The Romero Centre, Hummingbird House a children's hospice in Chermside Brisbane, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital on the Gold Coast, just to name a few. Together we have raised over $250,000+ for these causes.
This year two charities will benefit from the generosity of GLAM attendees and supporters - Stationery Aid and Ovarian Cancer Research. The first $5000 will go to Ovarian Cancer Research in memory of my beautiful friend Rachel who passed away in January this year. The remaining funds raised will go to Stationery Aid, helping vulnerable kids access basic educational resources including stationery and the booklist to go to school.
I am delighted to support both of these causes in 2024.
