Ko Tessa Frazer tōku ingoa - I’m a classical saxophonist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa New Zealand. I’ve recently been accepted to the Master of Music in classical music programme at Codarts, Rotterdam, where I’ll study under renowned saxophonist Femke IJlstra. This is an incredible opportunity to further my musical training and immerse myself in the European music scene.
I hold a First-Class Honours degree from Te Kōkī - New Zealand School of Music, where I studied under Reuben Chin and Simon Brew. My performance experience spans the country, and I’ve had the privilege of working with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Wellington, Auckland Philharmonia, Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band.
As a performer, I’m passionate about the classical saxophone and pushing the boundaries of what the instrument can be within the classical music world. I thrive on collaboration, chamber music, and contemporary repertoire - especially works that challenge tradition and reimagine the saxophone’s voice in new and exciting contexts.
