For more than 57 years, the Council of Single Mothers and their Children (CSMC) has stood alongside single mother families—providing specialist support, sharing lived experience and advocating for meaningful social and economic change.
As a lived-experience-led organisation, CSMC works to ensure that single mothers are heard in the decisions that affect their families. Through the Single Mother Test Victorian Election Campaign, CSMC is bringing their voices, experiences and priorities directly into the 2026 state election conversation.
The campaign calls on candidates and political parties to respond to five key asks designed to improve the lives of single mother families. The Single Mother Test: Victorian Election Forum 2026 creates an important opportunity for our community to hear those responses firsthand and consider how each commitment measures up.
