🇨🇺 ABOUT THE CUBAN GROOVE — AUCKLAND'S HOME OF CUBAN SALSA & DANCE
Since 2002, The Cuban Groove has been bringing authentic Cuban dance, music and culture to Auckland, New Zealand and beyond.
Over more than two decades, we've taught thousands of people across New Zealand, Australia and South-East Asia, and performed at countless events, festivals and parties — from WOMAD and Jambalaya to the National Jazz Festival and the Australian Cuban Dance Festival.
At the heart of The Cuban Groove is Cuban maestro Vivio Ramos Mediaceja, with more than 40 years of dance and music experience and professional training in Havana. Alongside our weekly Cuban Salsa (Casino) and Rueda de Casino classes, we offer Cuban dance workshops in styles including Son, Rumba, Afro-Cuban Orishas, Cha-Cha-Cha, Mambo, Dominican Bachata, Cuban Contemporary and more.
We also bring Cuban and Latin music to life through social dance events and live performances with our bands Ke lo Ke and Vivio & Friends.
The Cuban Groove works with individuals, community groups, universities, organisations and businesses to create Cuban dance classes, workshops and events — from regular group classes to one-off experiences for festivals, celebrations and special occasions.
