Diversity and Inclusion Team at the University
The Diversity and Inclusion Team at the University is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment for all staff and students. Recognizing the rich tapestry of backgrounds and experiences within our community, the team actively champions diversity through six internal staff networks, each focused on promoting the unique voices and needs of different groups.
Staff Networks:
- Disability at Work Network: This network advocates for the rights and representation of staff with disabilities, aiming to create a workplace that is accessible and supportive. It provides resources, mentorship, and a platform for open dialogue on disability-related issues.
- YURA Network (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff & Student Network): Committed to promoting the culture, rights, and interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, this network works to enhance understanding, respect, and collaboration across the university community.
- Pride Network: The Pride Network supports LGBTQIA+ staff and fosters an environment of acceptance and understanding. It focuses on raising awareness of issues affecting the LGBTQIA+ community and promoting allyship across the university.
- Women at Sydney Network: This network champions gender equality and women's leadership within the university. It provides professional development opportunities, networking events, and initiatives to support women's advancement in all areas of academia and administration.
- Parents and Carers Network: Recognising the unique challenges faced by working parents and caregivers, this network offers support, resources, and a community for staff balancing work and family responsibilities.
- Mosaic Network (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Staff): This network celebrates cultural diversity and inclusion among staff from various linguistic backgrounds. It seeks to create a welcoming environment for all, while addressing the specific challenges faced by culturally and linguistically diverse staff.
