At The Little Village Project, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and flourish - regardless of their circumstances.
Since 2019, the project has supported vulnerable children in Latrobe Valley primary schools with access to evidence-based support that impacts on their engagement with education and the community. As a youth worker and counsellor at Stockdale Road Primary School in Traralgon, Ben Tunks saw this play out every day. Bright, capable kids were showing up to school with the will to learn, but not always the means. Some needed specialised support. Others were facing challenges at home. Often, it wasn’t just one thing — but a quiet accumulation of barriers that made it harder to engage, connect and thrive. The Little Village Project leverages community funding to support schools to access the interventions they need to stay engaged and achieve at school and in their life.
