Theo has a yearning to make sense of, and to experience, the human body-mind in all its highs, lows and depths. Their medical training serves as a broad knowledge base from which to springboard the somatic and embodied teachings they are currently drawn towards. Theo’s guidance is a unique blend acquired from their professional background in mental health, with extensive experience participating in and facilitating reflective practice groups, intermixed with teachings from eastern spiritual practices, principally asana and pranayama. Movement-wise they come from a competitive artistic rollerskating background with early childhood training in classical dance. In their early twenties Theo rediscovered the joy and freedom of movement through yoga, ecstatic dance, somatic improvisation, pole dancing, and the club scene, and they have been joyously liberating their body ever since. They mostly know that they know nothing, but other than that they’re pretty sure there’s some deep magic and healing in moving the body, stilling the mind and getting to know oneself.
“The most compelling experiences I have creatively is when I feel safe - I feel expansive!' Kyra
Kyra's interest lies in physical practices across acting, dance and circus. In recent years Kyra's improvisation and pilates/mobility practices have inspired their teaching. In this series Kyra will be guiding participants through a range of exercises such as: opening up movement pathways, releasing tension, finding play, and activating efficient muscle groups to stay safe and supported in both solo and partner explorations. Kyra draws on their training from: Film and Theatre Cert 4 (Perform Australia, Elizabeth Scott), Alchemy Dance Teacher Training (Anne O'Keeffe),VCA 6-month acting intensive (Jenny Lovell), Group Fitness Cert 4, Pilates (Tensegrity, Natalie Murray), NICA and Cirkidz (Lucina Fogagnolo), Authentic Movement (Cinizia Schincariol) and Contact Improv (LeeAnne Litton). Kyra's time volunteering in Jabiru and Arnhem Land with Children's Ground, their struggles with chronic fatigue and anxiety, plus their parenting journey have informed their yearning to create community through safety and creative expression.
